It seems like just yesterday I was writing about starting our gardens and it's already time to plan for fall. As counterintuitive as it may seem, August is the month to plant cool weather veggies like lettuce, onions, beets, radishes, etc. The heat of August will give them a good start and the cooler, lower light of September will finish them off.
When the leaves start to fall, please consider mulching them with your mower instead of raking and bagging them. The insects, worms, and your soil will thank you.
September's Garden Club meeting will be held as usual at the clubhouse on Thursday, September 14, 9:30 am. See you then.
